Why do you want to break 80?

Good Question. Well, there are a lot of reasons why you do wanna break 80 and start getting scores in the 70’s range. For one, it’s all about bragging rights. When you do break 80 after all, you’re no longer amongst the miserable many who make too many shots to make a hole. Another good reason to score below 80 is that being able to do so let’s you know that you are doing well in this game on the greens.

So what’s the magic formula to score below 80?

Well, to be able to break 80 you must first understand or realize the reason why you aren’t scoring the way you would want to in golf. The very obvious reason why your scores are not that good is that you are simply taking too many a shots to the hole.

Obviously, the more swings you make, the harder it becomes to score below 80. Plain and simple. I just don’t get it why breaking 80 is such a puzzle to a lot of people. Anyway, so the goal here is to hole the ball in as LESS shots as possible.

Now it becomes more interesting. Lesser number of swings = 80 or below!

“How to significantly slash the number of your swings?” is the real question. Well, there are many things you can do to lower your shot count and therefore break 80.

1. Fix your slice.

Did you know that a sliced ball takes a good 20-30 yards off your distance? So, the first solution to your problem would be to cure your wicked . There are a lot of articles in the net about how to cure and you will benefit a lot from reading them.

2. Set your mind to break 80.

A lot of people don’t maximize the power of their minds in golf. As it is in life, what the mind can conceive, the body will achieve. Before you hit the greens, take a few moments to find your center so to speak. Condition your mind to focus on nothing else but breaking 80. Imagine yourself taking the tee and doing everything that a good golfer does to make the ball go without slicing off course. Play the game in your mind with you breaking 80 even before you take hold of your club and take the first tee. This helped a lot during my early years as an amateur golfer.

3. Get a good set of golf equipment.

A Jedi can be pretty harmless without his light-saber. So it is with golfers. I’m not saying that we should play golf with light sabers but you get the idea. You should invest in good quality golfing equipment if you want to score below 80. Get a good golf club, a good pair of golf shoes and put on you favorite golf cologne should you think it would help.

4. Read e-books on how to break 80.

Learning a few tricks from these guys won’t hurt at all. I know because I also invested time and money to learn what they are saying on how to improve my golf game before. Some of their suggestions worked. You just have to be careful where you get your information so you don’t pay a lot of money for junk. A good e-book on the subject can be found at breaking80.com. Or you can also check my recommended readings on breaking 80 here: Breaking 80 e-books.

5. Track your swings.

I know it’s boring and does take the life out of the game. But hey, if you are really serious about breaking 80, you should start recording the number of shots you are making to the hole. Track the number of your irons, write down the number of your putts on the green. Your numbers must make sense otherwise, you won’t break 80. It’s that simple. Determine which parts of the game you are taking too many shots. Then work your obvious mistakes.

Breaking 80 in golf takes hard work, diligence in recording your stats and most of all a sharp mental and physical condition. These things are needed for you to score better in golf.
